Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Principal Conversational Analyst to lead the continued care and feeding of our enterprise grade conversational experiences. The Principal Conversational Analyst will start with leading one other member of the team to create a process and cadence of delivering improved conversational interactions where tone, voice, and style are important along with the ability for our customer to successful interact with our skills. This is a growth-oriented role where we believe the team of Analysts will grow soon with the increased number of conversational experiences being delivered to the market. The Principal Conversational Analyst will help train, mentor and recruit new members, as that happens.

This Principal Analyst will also be in a position to identify new sources of data and harness new methods to increase the intelligence derived to improve these experiences. The Principal Analyst will be constantly challenged to find faster and more efficient ways to arrive at root causes of issues within conversational interactions and how to fix them. To succeed as a Principal Conversational Analyst, you have to have a flair and command of the English language, be passionate about conversations and to build and maintain our testing suite of sample utterances. A strong grip over multiple languages and their locale based usage will be a big plus, as we will be deploying our skills in many languages. The position will also involve collaboration across translators, customers, ML engineers, designers, PMs, QA engineers and development engineers across the globe.

What will you be doing?

As a Principal Conversational Analyst, your work will include:

  1. Getting a prompt from the Conversational Designer on the goals of the care and feeding required for the Digital Assistant
  2. Monitoring Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA) Insights / Dashboards to identify hot spots
  3. Working with Customer/Dev /PM to get logged data
  4. Getting access to these logs and organizing them for analysis
  5. Sending the logged data securely to an Analyst for annotation
  6. Grouping annotated data into issue buckets - slice and dice data for accurate conclusions
  7. Presenting results to the Conversational Design org - help identify patterns and exceptions
  8. Once fixes are made, working with Quality Analyst to run regression tests on the fixes implemented
  9. Working with Dev/PM to integrate changes into code for release
  10. Leading and training the team of analysts and growing it as required
  11. Creating processes and methodologies for continuous cycle of delivery

Qualifications/Job Requirements:

Candidates should meet all or most of the following requirements:

  • 3+ years of some form of Conversational design, UX research, Quality Assurance for NLP, Linguistics analysis, Computational Linguistics, or other relevant experience
  • B.S./B.A. or M.S./M.A. in Computer Science, English, Communications, Data Sciences, Linguistics or a related field
  • Understanding of IT environments, especially public cloud architectures
  • Some familiarity with DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with installing and configuring software independently.
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and software like Excel, R, etc.
  • Experience with basic scripting and administration tools, such as wikis, source control systems, and defect tracking systems, for example Confluence, Git, and Jira
  • Ability to work well with people and customers in different time zones and lines of business
  • Proven experience (including writing samples) documenting complex analytical work and presenting research and analysis to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a global audience. Impeccable grammar and succinct, clear prose
  • Ability to follow style guidelines, a writing model, and department processes for writing and publishing
  • Team player who can work on complex projects with other cross-functional teams
  • Keen sense of organization and time management, with strong attention to detail, and a methodical approach to keeping track of the test cases which can grow into the 100's of thousands
  • Strong, positive work ethic as demonstrated by initiative, adaptability, independence, and the desire to do what is required to produce quality deliverables
  • Interest in learning about technology and the drive to invest in such learning

Responsible for creating, evaluating and modifying prototypes to support evolving hardware and software application development.


As a member of the User Experience team, you will develop and apply software design/usability processes in the investigation of technical problems. May develop user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, physical manipulation and task and objective analyses. Provide product usability, evaluation and support to product development teams, including the analysis and investigation of applications/systems including tactile methods, visual graphics, web, multimedia, voice response and conversational user interaction. May assist in developing design concept and implementation, providing input on user design considerations. May produce specifications describing user needs and internal structures for product in development.


Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically seven years of software engineering or related experience needed.
